In the 1980's Al Ross was one of the few that flew merlins in Utah. Around the Utah Sky Trials people would leave with him to go watch the amazing flights of his Merlins taking one the murmurations of starlings.

Today the Utah Merlin meet is a separately run event from the Utah Sky Trials. People from all over come to fly their Merlins on starlings.
